When I started this book, I knew very little about the Freedom Rides in 1961 other than some information I had received in Birmingham and Montgomery, Alabama Civil Rights Museums.This book is powerful, present, inspiring and educational. I see it as a “must read” for people who have little first hand knowledge of life for black Americans in the South of that era and instructive for Americans seeking to understand the background of the current Black Lives Matters movement.Read it!
