I'm puzzled about the slang in this book, especially the term "gunkies" . I don't doubt the facts or missions but I wonder where if the this was rewritten to be more PC correct. It so happens this diary covers almost exactly my tour, 5/69-8/70, and I was based out of Quang Tri with A 4/12 Cav. Never have I heard gooks called gunkies. Never heard the word before. I don't think anyone else has either.
